Jill's Story...
I've been teaching at Turning Point for a little over two years, now. Adult education is something I didn't even know exisited and, as it turns out, I love it. Our class is made up of learners of all different ages (well, 16+) with different experiences and points of view. Our goal is to learn, and whether the end result takes the form of the GED or college, or a better job, the process of learning is really the process of further understanding the world around us so we are better prepared to engage with our lives. Other people make up a large part of that world, and we can learn more from them than we can anywhere else. Sharing our stories, expressing our ideas, opinions and expereinces, is one part of learning. The other is listening; listening to others' stories, as well as the questions they ask and the disagreements or agreements they have with ours. And so, sharing our stories within our class has been such an amazing experience, it seems the next step would be to share them with an audience a little larger. The first story assigment is about a memory. So read it, enjoy it, comment, ask questions, or make suggestions .
Thanks
Jill
